It's 3:00 a.m. and all is well

Well we've had our little Aiden home for a couple of weeks now and it just seems that it can't have been that long.  Time is flying by!  My mom was here to help for the first couple of weeks and we were so thankful that she was here.  I didn't have to worry about laundry or dishes or what we were having for dinner.  It was really special to have her here for Aiden's birth and to spend some one on one time with him in the first week.  We can't wait for the rest of his Grandparents and family to meet him.

When we first brought Aiden home from the hospital we were having some breastfeeding issues because his frenulum (the cartiledge under the tongue) was too tight.  We had our pediatrician snip it so he could feed better.  We worked with a lactation consultant to help him learn how to use his tongue again.  She worked wonders and he is now doing great!  He's gained weight and is now 9 pounds 14 oz and he's grown 1 1/2 inches to 24 inches long.  He's our big boy.  Since we're a little behind in pictures, here's a look at his first few weeks at home.  This will be a long post of pictures.

AIDEN THOMAS PEARSON

On Tuesday, March 2, we welcomed Aiden Thomas Pearson into this world.  Mom and son are both healthy and looking forward to coming home from the hospital on Thursday.  He is so far such a good baby with his Daddy's easy going demeanor.  We'll see if that lasts or if more high maintenance Mommyisms start coming.  He has such a nice complexion and long fingers and toes.

I went into early signs of labor on Monday mid-morning.  Contractions were very sporatic and pretty mild.  I picked up my mom from the airport in the afternoon and continued to have contractions throughout the day.  They were intensifying but not consistent.  I thought we'd be another day or so, but at 10:55 p.m. Monday night my water broke.  By the time we got to the hospital I was almost 4 cm dialated, so I was able to get some drugs shortly after arrival - THANK GOD!  I got my epidural around 2:45 a.m. and was then able to sleep through the night while things progressed on their own.  My contractions were never really consistent, so before pushing they gave me some pitocin to try to even out the timing and make pushing more effective.  I pushed for about 2 and 1/2 hours and he finally came out.  So, about 12 hours of labor for a first time baby, not bad.
